Ingredients

Texas Toast

  • 4 to 6 thick-cut slices of Texas toast (or thick white bread)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt, to taste

Cheesy Topping

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Parsley or dried oregano, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Make the Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt until smooth and well combined.
  3. Butter the Bread: Arrange the thick-cut bread slices on the prepared baking sheet. Generously brush each slice with the garlic butter mixture.
  4. Add the Cheese: In a separate bowl, toss together the shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Pile the cheese mixture generously on top of each buttered slice of bread.
  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, then switch to broil for the last 1 to 2 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden brown.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with a little extra dried oregano or parsley, slice if desired, and serve immediately!
