Ingredients

Brisket & Rub

  • 3 to 4 lb beef brisket (flat or point cut)
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Slow Cooker Sauce

  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small yellow onion, sliced

Instructions

  1. Mix the Rub: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Season the Brisket: Rub the spice mixture evenly over all sides of the beef brisket, pressing it gently into the meat.
  3. Layer the Slow Cooker: Place the sliced yellow onions at the bottom of your slow cooker. Lay the seasoned brisket directly on top of the onions.
  4. Make the Sauce: In a separate bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, and minced garlic. Pour the mixture evenly over and around the brisket.
  5. Slow Cook: Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours (or HIGH for 5 to 6 hours), until the brisket is fork-tender and easily shreds or slices.
  6. Slice and Serve: Remove the brisket from the slow cooker and let it rest for 10–15 minutes. Slice against the grain, drizzle with the pan juices and leftover sauce, and serve warm!
